Major abdominal surgeries (e.g., gastrectomy, pancreatectomy, colectomy) carry a high risk of life-threatening postoperative complications, including multiorgan disfunction syndrome (MODS), acute kidney injur (AKI), miocardial injury after non-cardiac surgery (MINS) and severe infections.
