Course: Expanding PrEP Access in Rural and Underserved Communities: A Practical Approach to HIV Prevention

CME Credits: 1.50

Released: 2026-09-03

The Southeastern United States continues to bear a disproportionate burden of HIV, with rural and underserved communities facing additional challenges, including limited healthcare resources, geographic barriers to care, and shortages of infectious disease specialists. Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is highly effective for preventing HIV, underscoring the need for clinicians in these settings to understand its use and engage patients in conversations about sexual health. In Part 1 of this two-part series, HIV Prevention: Closing Gaps in PrEP Access in Rural and Underserved Communities of the Southeast US, expert faculty will review current and emerging PrEP options, evolving clinical evidence, and key challenges in HIV prevention and care. Best practices for discussing sexual health, identifying patients who may benefit from PrEP, and expanding access to PrEP in rural and underserved communities will also be explored. This activity is a recording from a two-part webinar series that took place in June 2026.
